Each golf cart was originally supplied by us from new, as most of them are ex-fleet hire. We guarantee the annual service history of every refurbished cart we supply. Most major components are overhauled or replaced during the refurbishment process.
The refurbishment process, includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Each machine will have all external trim and body panels removed, including old batteries,
to undergo full steam wash, to remove old grime and debris. To include the undercarriage of the cart. - Any areas of rust on exposed areas of chassis, to be sanded back, treated, primed and resprayed in black.
- Under-front of buggy resprayed in black.
- Full wiring loom integrity check and test, to ensure no broken wires, corroded connections etc.
- Controller health check to be undergone, to ensure machine is showing no faults and
speed/acceleration is set correct to customer requirements. - Battery tray to be primed and sprayed black, to improve cosmetic appearance and increase longevity.
- All suspension bushes and suspension components checked and replaced as necessary.
- Steering checked for excessive play and correctly aligned and tracked, steering rack replaced
if necessary. Steering wheel centre aligned. - All bearings to be replaced as standard, including 2 in each front hubs and one for each side of the rear axle.
- Gear case oil to be replaced and refilled with correct grade oil, for improved differential life and performance.
- Tyres checked for wear, cracking, replaced as necessary. All carts to be supplied with like new tyres.
- Electric solenoid replaced, as this is a component under load continually, whilst in use.
- Key switch tested for functionality, replaced as necessary.
- Both seats checked for wear and replaced if necessary. No refurbished machine to be supplied with any seat cracking, tears or otherwise.
- New battery bank installed, and system fully tested. We offer a choice of new battery banks, either AGM or Lithium. Please see below for details on both.
- Wheel nuts torqued to manufacturer specification.
- Roof checked for splitting, replaced as necessary.
- New or very good split screen installed.
- New body panels installed. We have a wide range of colours available.
- A full valet of each machine before delivery.
Battery Choice
Lithium
Lithium-ion is a non maintenance battery, an advantage that most other chemistries cannot claim.
There is no memory and no scheduled cycling is required to prolong the battery's life. In addition, the
self-discharge is less than half compared to nickel-cadmium, making lithium-ion well suited for modern
fuel gauge applications. lithium-ion cells cause little harm when disposed. The lithium is very
advantageous in a fast pace environment, as it offers a ‘hassle free’ battery system, that can be
charged as and when necessary. The lithium pack could also be transferred to an ‘empty EV’ in the
future, if the vehicle was upgraded after a certain period. This means the lithium will more than pay
for itself over the duration of its lifespan.
Advantages of Lithium over AGM:
- High energy density - potential for yet higher capacities.
- Lightweight: Reduce overall vehicle weight by almost 50%
- Does not need prolonged priming when new. One regular charge is all that's needed.
- Relatively low self-discharge - self-discharge is less than half that of nickel-based batteries.
- Low Maintenance - no periodic discharge is needed; there is no memory.
- Opportunity charging – see below
- Specialty cells can provide very high current to applications such as power tools
Opportunity charging is a system that permits batteries to be charged several times during the work
cycle (usually eight hours). This permits the user to charge the battery periodically, to maintain enough
usable charge to continue using the vehicle. i.e. the vehicle could be charged during an employee’s
lunch break and then go and achieve a greater range for the rest of the working day. It means the
vehicle does not have to finish its charge cycle, before being used again, ideal for a fast pace, prolonged
usage environment.
The usable life span of a lithium battery pack is between 15 & 20 years if used correctly.
AGM - Absorbent Glass Mat
AGM technology became popular in the early 1980s as a sealed lead acid battery for military aircraft,
vehicles and UPS to reduce weight and improve reliability. The sulfuric acid is absorbed by a very fine
fiberglass mat, making the battery spill-proof. This enables shipment without hazardous material
restrictions. The plates can be made flat to resemble a standard flooded lead acid pack in a rectangular
case; they can also be wound into a cylindrical cell.
AGM has very low internal resistance, is capable to deliver high currents on demand and offers a
relatively long service life, even when deep cycled. AGM is maintenance free, provides good electrical
reliability and is lighter than the flooded lead acid type. While regular lead acid batteries need a
topping charge every six months to prevent the build-up of sulfation, AGM batteries are less prone to
sulfation and can sit in storage for longer before a charge becomes necessary. The battery stands up
well to low temperatures and has a low self-discharge.
The leading advantages of AGM are a charge that is up to five times faster than the flooded version,
and the ability to deep cycle. AGM offers a depth-of-discharge of 80 percent; the flooded, on the other
hand, is specified at 50 percent DoD to attain the same cycle life. This means you can discharge the
battery continuously to 80 percent and still maintain the battery cycle life, whereas with a lead acid it
is only 50%. If discharged any further, it can be detrimental to the overall life of the battery.
AGM batteries cannot be opportunity charged, for risk of reducing the cycle life of the battery.

The usable life span of an AGM battery pack is between 5 & 8 years if used correctly.
Advantages of AGM over Lead acid:
- Spill-proof through acid encapsulation in matting technology
- High specific power, low internal resistance, responsive to load
- Up to 5 times faster charge than with flooded technology
- Better cycle life than with flooded systems
- Vibration resistance due to sandwich construction
- Stands up well to cold temperature
- Less prone to sulfation if not regularly topping charged
- Has less electrolyte and lead than the flooded version
- Maintenance free
